Myokakuji Temple
Myokakuji Temple was established by Nichijitsu in 1378. Originally the temple was built around Shijo Omiya of west central area sponsored by Myokaku Ono. In 1583 the temple was ordered to move to the present location by Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

Myokakuji is on the east side of Horikawa street and to the north of Kyoto Imperial Palace. You will enjoy the magnificent gardens in the large compound and various cultural experiences such as Tea ceremony and Wadaiko drumming.
