San-tei

This thatched building was built in the late 19th century as a drawing room and is on the south side of the pathway to Korinin temple. You will be able to experience its tranquility and the beautiful green of the garden.

San Tei is on the north west side of Kodaiji temple between Korinin Temple and Gesshinin Temple in Higashiyama. If you walk to the east into a path from Nenenomichi street and cross a small bridge on your right hand side, you will come to the entrance.

The building is used as a drawing room but can also be used to study Buddhist culture such as the Tea ceremony and Zazen meditation. Because San Tei is so quiet and calm, once people enter they don’t want to leave.
